We Care
|
Having a baby is an exciting time in anyone’s life. It changes everything! Here at PHPSM we want that adjustment to be as seamless as possible. So we give you some information you need to keep mom and the brand new addition taken care of.
When we are notified of a birth in our PHPSM family, we send the new mom a letter of congratulations with some direction of how to take care of herself and a chart that clearly explains when the baby needs all of it's immunizations and check-ups. We hope this will be useful in keeping the new PHPSM members healthy.
Along with this information, we also send a newborn onsie that says, “I’m Covered by PHPSM.” Perfect for those first few months.
Here are just a couple reminders that are included in the letter:
- Make sure mom has a post partum visit with her OB/GYN within 3 to 8 weeks following the birth of the baby. It is important to make sure mom is okay both physically and emotionally.
- It is very natural for the new mom to feel a mix of emotions; however, if she begins to feel overwhelmed, sad, or depressed she may be at risk for Post Partum Depression. Call the OB/GYN or Foote Managed Behavioral Health at 517-789-5999 or 1-877-285-7900.
- Make sure to schedule check-ups for the baby to monitor the growth and development and to make sure he/she receives the recommended vaccinations. The first visit should occur within the first 2 weeks following birth.
If you need help in selecting a pediatrician for your new baby or just found out you are pregnant and need help selecting an OB/GYN. Please call our Customer Service department at 517-787-6568 or 1-800-394-7569.
